Lucky to Have Our Lovely Home
Our first home was a small, functional space where we spent our days after classes and before going to our jobs. We couldn’t afford much, but the inheritance I got when my mother died was enough to afford a small rancher with a beautiful landscape. The house wasn’t much to look at, but the outdoors around the home was unforgettable. Today, we’re lucky enough to have a beautiful home and garden, so we feel lucky and spoiled, for, when we had that small rancher house we felt cramped inside. We had to stay outside more than we would have liked, so we really had to make our outdoor areas look splendid.
The landscape around our first house was relaxing enough to entertain us on cool evenings. My wife and I would sit out on the deck with a book in hand, and we would read poetry to each other to compliment the serenity we were enveloped in. There’s nothing more relaxing than reading with a loved one outdoors. Our home’s deck area provided the perfect opportunity to become close with nature as we enjoyed each other’s company. The cool night area provided us with reason to light a fire for warmth. We had a fire pit in the backyard, but we experimented with bringing a small stove close to the deck area that helped to keep us toasty.
During the summer months, having a nice deck meant we would have a place to bathe in the sun on most any day. Getting more sun in your yard makes you happier; people need sunlight to be happy, just like plants need it to grow taller. You’ll find yourself smiling more if you spend more time in the outdoors, especially on a sunny day. We still get outside in our backyard, and we still spend time in the sun on the deck in our new home. However, we have much more to entertain us at our current home.
When we first moved from our little house, we couldn’t get over how the people who built our new home didn’t build it with a deck. The house we have now is gigantic, and the outdoor area that encompasses our front yard and backyard is even more inviting. We chose a property situated close to government land, so it will remain covered with trees for a long time. Our new home amenities bring us closer to nature, and closer to each other. From the comforts of our lovely rancher, we are surrounded by beauty. All we need to do is walk out the patio door to feel the sun, and smell the green landscape. Our home is a wonderful place to grow old together.
